Antoinette “Nettie” (Hartman) Harpring, 92, passed into eternal life on February 14, 2024. She was born on September 12, 1931 in Franklin County, the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Werner) Hartman. She married Benno “Bud” Harpring on August 24, 1955, and they spent fifty-seven faith-filled years together until Bud passed away on July 24, 2013.
Her loving family includes Benno “Frank” (Karen Eder) Harpring, Mark G (Karen Ellis) Harpring, Diane K. (Elbert) Gordon all of Rushville and daughter-in-law, Lisa Harpring, of Morristown. Nettie will be missed by her nine grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren that brought much joy to her life. Also surviving are a brother, Irvin (Fran) Hartman, sisters, Geraldine Nobbe and Edith (Bill) Eickhorst, and brother-in law, Norbert Harpring.
In addition to her parents, Nettie was preceded in death by her son, Steven T. Harpring; brother, Jerome Hartman, and sisters, Marie Meyer and Agnes Blankman.
Nettie was a lifelong Catholic and attended St. Mary Catholic church. Raised on a farm, Nettie learned to work hard and wake early at an early age; traits she never outgrew. In earlier years, she enjoyed gardening, making wonderful meals, entertaining family and friends, keeping an immaculate home and raising a family of four. Recently she preferred working jigsaw puzzles, reading novels, watching Hallmark movies and spoiling great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 21 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Dustin Boehm officiating. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. on February, 20 at Todd Funeral Centre & Crematory, Rushville. The rosary will be recited at 3:45 p.m.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, St. Mary Catholic School and SPARC of Rush County.
