Carol Dean Buckley, 81, of Glenwood, IN, passed away April 12th, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. Carol was born in Glennwood, IN on January 20, 1943, a son of the late Gladys (Matney) and Dempsey T. Buckley.
He was a graduate of the former Fayette Central class of 1962. He served in the U.S. Navy as a IM3 (E-4) stationed in Key West, Florida during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the NDSM and Good Conduct Medal. He was the husband of Margaret Joyann Ray whom he married on September 9, 1963. Carol was a Rush County Sheriff Deputy for Sheriff Ted Owens for a short time. He later became an over the road Truck Driver throughout his life. He was a member of the Orange Lodge F&AM #234 and Scottish Rite.
He will be missed by his wife of 61 years Joy Buckley, and a daughter, Lori, (Danny) McGowan, of Rushville, IN; a son, Thomas "Randy" Buckley, of Franklin, IN; a brother, Orville Buckley, of Rushville, IN. He is also survived by six grandchildren and one great grand child and several nieces & nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Charles, Richard, Tom, and Dempsey JR.
Visitation will be held 11 AM to 1 PM on Wednesday, April 17th at Todd Funeral Centre & Crematory in Rushville, IN with Military Honors at 1 PM followed by Masonic Rites at 1:15 PM. Pastor John Wall will offer words of comfort at 1:30 PM. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Interment will take place at Glenwood (IN) Union Cemetery.
