Angela Godar Obituary

Angela Catherine Godar, 92, of Glenwood passed away August 17, 2022 with her loving family by her side.

She was born February 8, 1930, in Oldenburg, IN, a daughter of the late Gus and Florine (Niehoff) Herbert.  She attended St. Mary Catholic School in Rushville.  She was married May 2, 1951 to the late Robert E. Godar at St. Mary Catholic Church in Rushville.  Together they would have seventeen children, 41 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and enjoy 59 years of marriage.

She worked at Winkler’s restaurant where she met the love of her life.  After she was married, she devoted her entire life to family and church.  She worked on the farm as well as being an avid gardener, seamstress and cook - she left the Energizer Bunny in the dust!  At the end of the day, she loved watching Mollie B polka while eating her ice cream.  She helped on various committees in the church and community.  She was known for her home cooking by all.  She never met a stranger and everyone loved her and her beautiful smile and laugh.  Angela’s greatest love was spending time with her loving family and always putting her faith first.

Surviving are her eight sons Tom (fiancé Lavita Huffmeyer) Godar, of Napoleon, IN; Bob Godar, Daniel (Mary) Godar, Mike (companion Stepheny Fisher) Godar, David Godar, all of Glenwood; Mark (Cindy) Godar, of Terre Haute, IN;  James (companion Samantha Bullard) Godar, of Connersville, IN; Richard (Connie) Godar, of Connersville, IN;  nine daughters, Mary Ball, of Greenfield, IN; Julia Hodge, of Lafayette, IN; Elizabeth Chapman, of Houston, TX; Linda (Tom) Meyer, of Rensselaer, IN; Cindy (Mark) Lunsford, Debbie (Brian) Carsey, both of Cambridge City, IN; Susie (Rich) Owen, Cathy (Joe) McDivitt, Rita (Mike) Adams, all of Connersville, IN.

Also surviving are her sisters Mary (Sheldon) Hoeing, Carolyn Risk, Louise Hayes, Patsy McVey, Jeannie Hawley, Becky (Jim) Stewart;  brothers Lloyd Herbert, Virgil (Luzia) Herbert and Jerry (Rosie) Herbert and many, many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Ruth Carr, brother Walter Herbert, numerous sisters and brothers-in-law, her grandson Spencer Godar, granddaughter Michelle Uphaus and four sons-in-law.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at St Mary Catholic Church in Rushville, IN with Rev.
