Barbara Louise Chilton Mucha (53) – Barb Mucha was born on August 11, 1968 and died during the night on April 11, 2022. She struggled with complications from diabetes for most of her life. Barb leaves behind her father, Ruel Chilton; sister, Libby Sheffield; brother-in-law, Gordon Sheffield; close family friend, Chris Terry; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and two ex-husbands. Her mother, Audrey Chilton, and her beloved Uncle Al Raab preceded her in death.
Barb grew up in New Castle, Indiana on her parents’ min-farm. She graduated from New Castle Chrysler High School in 1986, from Ball State University in 1990, and again from Ball State a few years later after she got out into the real world and figured out that she needed to get a different degree in order to do what she really wanted. Barb worked for Hamilton County as a probation officer for 15 years. She then relocated to Tippecanoe County where she had lived in retirement for the past ten years.
Animals were Barb’s passion, and she took them in and took great care of them throughout her life. She will be remembered for her big heart and for her sharp sense of humor. A backyard memorial service is being planned for the summer. To honor Barb’s memory, a kind deed for a furry friend would please her the most.
