Bernard John Spaeth, 90, of Rushville, IN passed away January 25, 2023 at Rush Memorial Hospital with his loving family at his side. Bernard was born in Brookville, IN on August 13, 1932, a son of the late Hilda (Geis) and John Ignatius Spaeth.
He married Betty Jean (Ritzi) Spaeth on August 28, 1954. They spent 58 years together and she entered Heaven on December 15, 2012. He graduated from Brookville High School and went on to be a life long dairy farmer, owning and operating Willow Creek Dairy, Inc. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Rushville and also served in the U.S. Air Force.
Bernard is survived by six daughters; Patricia Joanne (Richard) Schultz, Eileen Marie (Gary) Clemons, Constance Susan (Jeff) Amos, Regina Lynn (widow of Brian) Sutter, Ann Marie Robben, Jennifer Kathleen (Darren) Hoeing and seven sons; David Marion (Debbie Carpenter) Spaeth, Richard Michael (Regina Wagner) Spaeth, Michael Edward (Karen Sowder) Spaeth, William John (Julie Knecht) Spaeth, James Patrick (Darlene Knecht) Spaeth, Charles Joseph (Debbie Reiner) Spaeth and Bernard Gerard (Lisa Williams) Spaeth. He is also survived by a sister Mary Barr, of Indianapolis, IN and two brothers; Louis (Kay) Spaeth, of Middletown, OH; Robert (Jeanie) Spaeth, of Rushville, IN;
Also missing Grandpa Bernie are 50 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren and three great grandsons on the way.
In addition to his wife, Betty (Ritzi) Spaeth, he is preceded in death by a grandson, Douglas Martin Spaeth; a granddaughter, Holli Michelle Spaeth; three sisters, Ellen Wilhelm, Rita Sheeran, Ruth Stuckey, and a son in law, Brian Sutter.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM on Monday, January 30th at St. Mary Catholic Church in Rushville, IN with Rev. James Brockmeier officiating. He will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Rushville following service.
Visitation will be Sunday from 3 to 8 PM at Todd Funeral Centre in Rushville with all invited for the Rosary at 2:45 PM.
