David W. Smith

David Wayne Smith age 66 of Rushville, passed away January 9, 2021 at Arbor Grove Village in Greensburg.

David was born October 1, 1954 in New Castle IN a son of Vivian F Holmes Smith and the late Lawrence Andy Smith.  He was a 1972 graduate of Rushville Consolidated High School.  He later obtained his Bachelors Degree in Area Planning in 1986 from Ball State University.  He worked a short time for the city of Lebanon Indiana in the area planning commission, but spent most of his career as the Head Time Keeper for CONRAIL in Philadelphia PA.  He attended the Rushville Church of the Nazarene.

He married Bonnie L. Tichenor and she survives.

In addition to his loving wife Bonnie, he is survived by his mother, Vivian Smith of Rushville; three step-children, Davilyn (Michael) Lang, Joshua Johnson and Justice Johnson all of Greensburg; six step-grandchildren, Zachery Richey, Paige Lang, Hunter Richey, Payton Richey all of Greensburg, Michaela Lang (spouse Robert Duffiani) of Texas, Korey Lang (spouse Bailey Pehal) of Montana; one step-great grandson, Reid Duffiani.

David is also survived by his brother, Michael (Susie) Smith of Glenwood and sister, Cathy (Tommie) Sipes of Milroy.  Also missing him are his special and lifelong friends, brother-in-law Gordon (Mary) Young of Rushville, George Roller of Broad Ripple and Gene Monroe of Rushville  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A Celebration of Life will be 1PM Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Todd Funeral Centre & Crematory with Mike Heimsoth offering words of comfort.   Burial will follow at Arlington (IN) East Hill Cemetery.
