Harold I. Stark, 99, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away Dec. 24, 2021.
Harold was born in Rush County, IN on Feb. 22, 1922, a son of the late Etta (Irvine) and Walter M. Stark. He married Joan Reidman Stark on Nov. 27, 1954, and she passed away on Jan. 12, 2016. Harold graduated from Arlington High School in 1940.
He worked as a Quality Control Foreman at the Allison Corporation, retiring in 1980. While at Allison's, he worked on the lunar module fuel tanks for the Apollo missions. He lived a very full life, as he built and raced 3/4 migit cars from 1952-61 and was a former member of the Midwest Racing Association. Harold also built his own steam engine.
Since 1984, he volunteered for the Indiana Locomotive Transportation Museum; the Rolls Royce Museum. He was well known for working at the Indiana State Fair Pioneer Village for 40 years; he was an instructor at the Steam School in Pawnee, OK, as well as a member of the Pioneer Engineers Association of Indiana.
Survivors include a daughter, Jane Pavey, of Rushville and a son, Edward (Sharon) Stark, of Indianapolis. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Ruby; wife Joan; son Joe, great grandson Clayton Meyers V; and three sisters, Roberta, Annabelle, and Charlotte.
Public Visitation will be held 5 PM to 7 PM on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2021 at Todd Funeral Centre & Crematory in Rushville, IN. Funeral Services will be private for family with Gary Holt from Arlington Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow at the Goddard Cemetery in Rush County.
