Herman Barney Smart

Herman Barney Smart, 62, of Indianapolis, formerly of Rushville passed away December 30, 2022 at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis from cancer.

Herman was born February 11, 1960 in Memphis, Tennessee to Herman Ben Smart and Kathryn (Ritcher) Brown who survives. He graduated from Rushville Consolidated High School in 1979. He joined the Army in February of 1982. After the military he worked as a lineman for many years.

Herman is survived by his mother, three sons Eric Smart of McKee, Kentucky, Jamie Smart of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, and Adam (Shetara) Smart of Shelbyville, Kentucky. Three brothers Jerry Smart of Texas, Joe Duke, and Luke of Indianapolis, Indiana.

He is also survived by four grandchildren, Jalin Smart, Daniel Smart, Andrew Smart and Anthony Jeter and girlfriend Lori Patterson.

Herman was preceded in death by his father, Herman Ben Smart and his stepfather, Joe Duke.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM on Friday, January 6, 2022 at Todd Funeral Centre & Crematory with Rev. Darryl Cooper officiating. Friends are invited at 12 PM until the time of service. Burial will take place at East Hill Cemetery with military honors following service.
