Holly A. (Schultz) Bess

Holly Ann Bess, 62, of Rushville, entered eternal rest on  February 12, 2024, surrounded by her adoring family.

Holly was born in Oldenburg, Indiana on December 31, 1962, the daughter of Ruth E. (Rauch) and Robert A. Schultz. She graduated from Rushville Consolidated High School in 1980 and then attended IU School of Dentistry, Indianapolis, where she received her associates degree in Expanded Dentistry.

She was a dental hygienist at Superb Smiles in Rushville until her health caused her retirement.  Being a wife, mother and mamaw were her priority, her joy. Holly led a life of simplicity, selflessness and grace, but her love for her husband, children, grandchildren, family and friends held no bounds. Those who knew Holly witnessed that she was a force of nature-always active, vibrant and at the helm of her household.  Whether walking, couponing, Goodwiling, mowing, cooking, cleaning, painting or decorating-she was always on a mission.

Holly loved entertaining family and friends with fabulous food, cold beverages and lively conversation around her table or pool.  Since her very recent diagnosis with aggressive lung cancer, she has blessed all with her unwavering faith, love and trust of the Lord.  She was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church.

Holly is survived by the love of her life, Brian Bess, married 39 years; daughters Kelsey (John) Gray, Alexa (Ryan) Welborn and grandchildren Huck and Tess Gray and baby Welborn who will arrive in August. She is also survived by her sister, Peggy Cooper, of Falmouth, IN and her brothers Lyle (Doodie) Schultz, David (Toni) Schultz, also of Falmouth and Richard (Patricia) Schultz, of West Harrison, Indiana.  Many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and dear friends will also miss her immensely.  Holly was preceded in death by her parents, in-laws and grandparents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM on Friday, February 16 at St Mary Catholic Church with Father Dustin Boehm officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Rushville.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 PM Thursday at Todd Funeral Centre & Crematory.  Holly's family requests your attendance for the recitation of the Rosary at 3:45 PM on Thursday.

Memorial contributions may be made to St Mary School Foundation or the Pippa Flanary Scholarship.
