Janet Morris Obituary

Janet Sue Heim Morris was born April 02, 1941 in Indiana.  She died December 22, 2020 in Clear Lake Methodist Hospital in Clear Lake, TX from COVID-19.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Clarence Heim; and one of her twin brothers, Jerry Michael Heim.

She is survived by her daughter, Jeri Jan Mosley (Richard) of Camden, AR; her son, Randy Blair Morris of Seabrook, TX; two grandsons, Paul Richard Mosley of Camden, AR and Kyle Austin Mosley (Alexandria Hammonds) of Camden, AR and one great granddaughter, Savvy Elyse Mosley of Camden, AR.  Also surviving were her brother, Larry Marvin Heim who has since passed away in Oct. 2021; sister-in-law, Carol (Hall) Heim of Pembrook, FL; nephew, Blake L. Heim (Becky); great nephews, Curtis and Cameron Heim; nephew, Michael Aaron Heim of New Castle, IN; and great niece, Ciara Heim.

She is also survived by her ex-husband of 51 years, Larry Wayne Morris of Moore Haven, FL who she stayed close to and talked to everyday.

She graduated from Carthage High School in 1959 and from the University of New York at Fredonia, NY in 1976 with her BS in Elementary Education and graduated with her Masters in Education from Niagara College in Niagara Falls, NY.

She was a first grade teacher for over 50 years when she retired from Hall Elementary School in Friendswood, TX.  She had a passion for teaching first grade and taught hundreds of students to read.  Teaching was her greatest joy.  She was dedicated to her students and insuring that everyone could read.  She made such an impact on so many.

Our mother was loved by so many.  She touched numbers of lives in her years of teaching.  She always knew how to brighten someone’s day and make them feel loved.  She treated everyone with kindness and respect.  We would be remiss if we didn’t mention her love for her dog, Tyson a pug bulldog.  She loved animals but had several pugs over her lifetime.  She was a member of DAR, the Samuel Houston Chapter and Alden Eastern Star # 401.

Janet was an avid reader.  She read every Danielle Steele, Nora Roberts, Jennifer Cruise book as well as countless others.  She loved the rodeo and bull riding was by far her favorite.  She rarely missed a night of the Houston Rodeo.

Among her many talents included knitting, crafts and sewing.  She made many of her own clothes and her children’s as well.  She was a wonderful cook and her grandchildren always looked forward to her chicken and noodles, GOB cookies and her late night rice krispy treats.

Even though she lived several different places, she always considered Carthage home.  She looked forward to attending the Carthage Alumni Banquet each year.

A graveside service will be held Sunday, June 12, 2022 at 2:00PM at Riverside Cemetery in Carthage.    Please light a candle and share your memory at www.ToddFuneralHome.com
