Kathy R. (Akers) Burge

Kathy R. Burge, 67, of Carthage, passed away October 22, 2023 at her home.  Kathy was born on January 14, 1956 in Rushville, IN to the late Raymond and Mildred (Meer) Akers.  She was one of 10 children.

She was a Tri High School graduate, class of 1974.  She worked for the Knightstown School.  She drove a school bus, and was a custodian for many years.  She married John Scott Burge April 9, 1977 at the Raleigh Christian Church where they were both members.  She was an active lady and was always busy with her family, animals and arts & crafts.  She was accomplished at crocheting and making dolls and loved to see smiles in those she connected with.  She had many animals thru the years but her favorite dog was “Gracie”.

Missing her every day are her two daughters, Casey (husband Robert) Frye and Heather Burge (husband Angel Ramirez); 12 grandchildren including Avery and Ayden Burge who she was raising.  She is also survived by her siblings; Carolyn Akers, Larry (wife Sandy) Akers, Susan Kirby, Kay Maddox, Don (wife Denise) Akers, Mary (husband Michael) Weber and Betty (husband Steve) Hards.  Her mother in law, Coralyn Burge also survives.

Her husband Scott passed away July 14, 2023.  She is also preceded by her daughter Christy Voltz, one sister, Tere Akers, one brother, Samuel Akers, and two brothers in law, Edward Kirby and Dr. Raymond Maddox.
