Margie K. (Evans) Cordray

Margie Kay (Evans) Cordray, 77, originally a resident of Rushville for over 50 years. At her passing she was a resident of Evansville. She died April 21, 2021 after an extended illness in Evansville, Indiana.

She was born March 27, 1944 in Rushville to Gene & Betty (Knecht) Evans. She was a 1962 graduate of Rushville Consolidated High School. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Emmett Clyde Cordray. 

Margie is also survived by her daughter Jennifer Blaisdell of Owensboro, Ky, Son Joshua (Jessika) Craven of Newburgh Indiana. Sisters, Nancy A. (Robert) Leising of Milroy, Diane Stevenson of Phoenix and Bettigene (Jerry) Gilpin of Rushville, a brother, William F. (Regina) Evans of Rushville, 3 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and many loved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Douglas Cordray, sister Susan J. Jones, brother Jimmy Van Evans, and her parents.

Margie was employed by Rushville National Bank for 20 years, Hubler Automotive and most recently as a stand-in grandma and cleaning lady for Mighty Kids Daycare in Evansville.

Margie was an avid golfer, following in her father’s footsteps. She won many awards, club championships and golf tournaments throughout Indiana. Margie had an infectious laugh, an ability to make people comfortable, to always be dressed to “The Nines” and looking marvelous.
Margie was baptized, confirmed and married at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Rushville. She attended several churches in Evansville with family and Clyde, the love of her life whom she met in grade school and shared 65 wonderful years with. 

There will be a time of visitation with the family from 11 AM-1 PM Friday, April 23, 2021 with Funeral Mass at 1 PM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Norman F. Chance funeral Home, Indianapolis.
