Marjorie Ann (Austin) Carpenter

Marjorie Ann Carpenter, 99, of Rushville, IN, passed away July 22, 2020 at Miller's Merry Manor in Rushville.

She was born in Union Township, Rush County, IN May 13, 1921, a daughter of the late Gladys S. (Walker) and Gilbert R. Austin.  Marjorie married Donald E. Carpenter Aug. 19, 1939 and he preceded her in death Feb. 2, 2003.  

They were together nearly 64 years and raised their family in Rushville.  They were fixtures of our community.  She was a member of Main Street Christian Church, the Rushville women's coffee bowling league, Rush County little league baseball and Babe Ruth leagues.  She and Don enjoyed the many Masonic and Scottish Rite luncheons.

She is survived by a daughter, Darlene (Richard) Clifford, of Bryan, TX;  two sons, David Carpenter, of Indianapolis and Jay (Pamela) Carpenter, of Granger, IN.  Eight grandchildren and Four great grandchildren will also miss her.  

Marjorie will be laid to rest next to her late husband Don at Rushville's East Hill Cemetery. There  will be no public viewing, service, or burial due to the COVID 19 virus.  The family will have a private memorial service at a later date.
