He was a 1980 graduate of Rushville High School and married Rita Cherry Kaster April 12th 1980 at Main Street Christian Church. Randy enlisted into the United States Marine Corps after high school and completed boot camp at MCRD San Diego, CA.   He served from 1980-1993 in various locations: Meridian, MS; Camp Pendleton, CA; and Cherry Point, NC where he was Aviation Operations Chief (Sergeant) in the VMA-223 Harrier Squadron.

Randy was an avid sports fan and helped coach youth sports in Rushville while his kids were growing up. He also loved military and sports history. He loved to make people laugh, share jokes and tell stories.  He grew up attending the Rushville Boys & Girls Club and became an employee of the club as an adult.  While at the club he would referee and coach games.  Randy had a tremendous impact on the youth of the community and loved helping children.

Recently, Randy was working and was about to retire from Bunge North America in Morristown, IN after a more than two-decade career.  He was always a hard worker and often had two jobs supporting his family.
