Ruth B. Carr 86, A life long resident of Rush County, died on Tuesday December 10, 2019 at Ashford Place in Shelbyville.
On February 23, 1933, she was born to Gust and Florine Herbert. She married Joe Carr April 18, 1958. He preceded her in death in July 19, 2003. She was the 3rd born of twelve children: Angie Godar, Lloyd Herbert, Virgil Herbert, Walt Herbert, Louise Hayes, Patsy McVey, Jerry Herbert, Mary Hoeing, Carolyn Risk, Jeannie Hawley and Becky Stewart, all surviving except for Walter. She is survived by her 5 children, Rick (Patty) Carr, Kathy (Dan) Stephens, Scot (Linda) Carr, Diane (Brad) Stewart and Sandy (Bob) Amenta along with 11 grandchildren; Brad and Josh Carr, Kurt, Nick and Alex Stephens, Ross and Harlie Carr, Rusty Carr and Cody Stewart and Max and Mitch Amenta. 13 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews also survive.
Ruthie loved music and was especially fond of Elvis. Sewing was her favorite hobby especially in her early years. She was well known for her cooking, especially her noodles and Halloween popcorn balls. She had a great sense of humor and was energetic and hard working. Putting the needs of others before her own was her strongest trait. She attended St Mary Catholic School and graduated from Rushville High School. She is a lifelong member of St. Mary Parish of Rushville. She worked over 30 years at Schnadig Corporation and 10 years at Gecom in Greensburg before retiring.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Saturday, December 14, 2019 at St. Mary Catholic Church 512 N. Perkins St. Rushville, IN 46173 with the Rev. James Brockmeier officiating. Burial will follow at Rushville's Calvary Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
