Wilbur Hoeing Obituary

Wilbur A. Hoeing, 91, of Rushville, passed away Dec. 18, 2019 at Aspen Place Health Campus in Greensburg, IN.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM Saturday, Dec. 21, 2019 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Rushville with Rev. James Brockmeier, presiding. Visitation will be from 9 AM until the time of Mass.  Burial will follow at Rushville’s Calvary Cemetery. 

Wilbur was born in Decatur County, IN Sept. 3, 1928, the son of the late Rose A. (Miller) and Leo B. Hoeing.  He married Juliann Reuter June 26, 1951 and together they raised eight sons.  She passed away May 4, 1998.  He then married Myrna (Wallpe) Giesting Sept. 2, 2000 and she survives.

He was a lifelong farmer and was the ultimate caregiver of livestock, especially his dairy cows and hogs, but was most passionate about his family, his faith, and his community.  He also loved the great outdoors, enjoying coon hunting with his sons and their favorite dogs. He achieved many community and civic accolades throughout his life and was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Rushville.  

In addition to his wife Myrna, Wilbur is survived by seven sons Richard (Diane) Hoeing of Manilla, Kenneth (Denise) Hoeing, of Rushville;  Donald (Maryalice) Hoeing, of Rushville;  Kevin (Pam) Hoeing, of Rushville;  Mike (Denise) Hoeing, of Rushville;  Mark (Lori) Hoeing, of Rushville;  David (Karen) Hoeing of Rushville and one daughter-in-law, Pam Fussner Hoeing of Rushville and their families. 

Grandchildren surviving are Jennifer (Doug) Leising, Jason (Beverly) Hoeing, Sara (Pablo) Gutierrez, Theresa (John) Ferguson, Chris (Ashley) Hoeing, Kim (Ben) Lawson, Mandy (Brian) Reisman, Brittany (Tony) Bowers, Courtney (Randy) Hill, Amy (Kyle) Robbins, Allison (Curtis) Collins, Adam (Courtney) Hoeing, Anne (Kyle) Tressler, Joe Hoeing, Kayla (Chris) Nobbe, Jordan (Anne) Hoeing, Doug (Hannah) Hoeing, Nate (Ashley) Hoeing, Ben (Megan) Hoeing, Keith (Emily) Hoeing, Laura (Bobby) Spaeth and 34 great grand children.

Wilbur is also survived by six step children, Joe (Jeanice) Giesting of Indianapolis, Terry (Lori) Giesting of Batesville, Jeff (Susie) Giesting of Cincinnati, Jean (Grant) Mendenhall of Batesville, Mark (Denise) Giesting of Batesville, Jill Giesting of Indianapolis and their families.

Also surviving are his four loving sisters, Catherine Edna Thompson of Rushville, Eileen Settles of Waldron, Dorothy Wagner of Rushville and Mary Schneider also of Rushville.

In addition to his parents and first wife Juliann, he was preceded in death by a son, James, one grandson, Kyle, great granddaughter, Millie, and four sisters Martha Lecher, Loretta Busald, Ann Reuter Cox and Theresa Hoeing.
